In almost every series of coins, numismatics may run across the terms "prooflike" surfaces, which is mostly used when talking about Morgan silver dollars. The latter received currency throughout the 1950s and 1960s as the last of silver dollar issued by Treasury Department. The same way large amounts of decades-old coins suddenly were becoming available in "Uncirculated" condition.

There were enough differences in total appealing qualities. Some coins were "bag-marked" (meaning that they were greatly affected by contact marks). Some coin featured a tone that appeared after the contact with canvas. Some coins included dull surfaces and some exceptional pieces were "prooflike."
